The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hired Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano. If your a Bucs fan does this hire excite you? Schiano did take a struggling Rutgers program and made it relevant, but for some reason this maybe a bad hire for the Bucs. In 11 years at Rutgers Schiano had a 28-48 conference record in a weak Big East and a 68-67 overall record.
Its not like Schiano’s teams were having to play the LSU’s of the world every week in the Big East. If you have a losing recording in the worst BCS conference in the country, I am not sure how this translates into being a successful NFL coach. Maybe the Buccaneers see something that I don’t, but they would have been better off bringing in Marty Ball.
What the heck are you thinking!!!!!!!!! If the Bucs wanted to make a “splash” to try to increase the fan base, this move was certainly NOT it. I have already spoken with several long time season ticket holding friends who are NOT going to renew. We as Bucs fans are just not willing to throw away hard earned dollars for another 5 years just to watch your money saving methods fail. We have seen this scenario before. It was spelled CULVERHOUSE!! If you truly want to return the Bucs to the “Glory Years” you need to get off your butts and invest the dollars it takes to put together a management package that can tap into the player talents and succeed at the NFL level.
