Should the Texans Resign Mario Williams?

Should the Texans Resign Mario Williams?  The answer to this question depends on how much Williams will want and for how long.  If Williams wants top dollar, the Texans would be better off letting Williams walk and using the money to fill other key needs on the roster. Sure, the Texans would love to resign an elite pass rusher, but Williams only played in 5 games this year and without Williams the Texans defense didn’t miss a beat giving up only 17 points a game.

Instead of signing Williams to a large deal the Texans could use the money on resign Arian Foster to a much deserving new contract.  The Texans also need a #2 receiver and there are some good ones hitting the 2012 free agent market like Marques Colston, DeSean Jackson, Vincent Jackson and Stevie Johnson.  The Texans could sign one of these receivers to lineup opposite Andre Johnson.

The Texans did use the #1 pick on Williams in the 2006 draft and would hate to see him leave, but if the price is to high the Texans must be willing to let him walk because they cannot afford to tie up a bunch of money into one player while the team has other glaring needs.
