Will the Steelers let Mike Wallace go in free agency?  The Steelers are currently over the salary cap and will not have money to resign Wallace.  The Steelers could use the franchise tag on Wallace, but the Steelers are currently $10 million dollars over the cap; so paying Wallace $9 million dollars in 2012 is out of the question. Hines Ward has been a fixture of the Pittsburgh Steelers for the last 14 years, but is this the last year we see Ward in a Steelers uniform?  Ward was recently demoted for a younger and more explosive Jerricho Cotchery who has come in and made a huge impact for the Steelers.  Ward is still a cagey veteran, but his days of being an effective receiver in the NFL are over. The Pittsburgh Steelers offense does not look good going into the season.  They don't have Ben Roethlisberger the first 6 games, they traded their best receiver in Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets and now they have lost their best offensive linemen Willie Colon for the entire season.  These injuries, trades and suspensions put the Steelers in a tough spot. This morning I came in and saw that Sports Illustrated had published there Article on Ben Roethlisberger.  After reading this article about the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback I come away even more shocked.  Sports Illustrated did not help Roethlisberger in his attempt to clean up his image.  Granted I knew that Roethlisberger was a jerk, but this article points out more examples of how Big Ben uses his NFL quarterback status in the way he treats people.
